Laundry is nobodies favourite task, But these hacks are sure to make your laundry not only easier to get through, but safer for you, your family, and the environment.
Here are some recipes and hacks from myself, and my oil loving friend Justine.
We use two laundry detergents in our home. 1. is from Tru Earth. (love their scent free strips) and the other is home made.
Why make your own?
- It’s safer for you, and you know whats in it. Many children have allergies to fragrance, and other chemicals found in detergent.
- You can make your own scented laundry detergent, from “crisp scents, citrus fresh, or night time lavender” you can make whichever you desire.
- It’s sustainable- all the ingredients come in boxes, you can recycle them.
- It’s affordable – It’s easy to get the cost down when you buy ingredients on sale or in bulk.
- You can make more when you run out.
What do you need for your homemade laundry detergent?
1 1/2 cups of Soap Flakes
3 cups of Borax
3 cups of Washing Soda
6 Tbsp of Epsom Salt
30 drops of your favourite essential oil combination, See below.
Mix ingredients and…. Done !
*** JUSTINE’S TIP – Storing your detergent in cute containers makes you not dread spending time in your laundry room.

*** KAYLEIGH-MAY’S TIP – Make two seperate batches, one with lavender and purification for your sheets, this is great for sleepy time. Bonus, Add lavender and purification to dryer balls and when your children or you are having a hard time sleeping throw your pillow cases in the dryer.
(this is also super great for when guests come visit, but be careful they may never want to leave)

Stain Remover Recipe, Direct from Justines special recipe book!
From grass stains to food stains, every mama needs a stain remover, and lucky for you Justine has one that does the job!
1/2 capful thieves cleaner
1/2 cup vinegar
1 Tbsp dish soap
1 cup water
10 drops lemon essential oil
10 drops thieves essential oil
I love using Dryer balls! They have been proven to dry your clothing faster saving your energy bill, and as an added bonus you can use then to add scent to your clothes and linens.
Add a few drops of whatever essential oils you want and put them in the dryer.
*** We use lavender and purification for most things.
Diffuse in the Laundry Room
By using a citrus scent in a diffuser in the laundry room to help mask the smell of dirty laundry, (from peed in pants smell from littles, and dirty sports socks from teen boys, the laundry room can really stink.) Adding an inviting scent, may help you spend more time in the laundry room.
Let me know how you enjoy these laundry room tips and hacks.
Love, Light, and Brightest Blessings,
Maybe a good rule in life is never become too important to do your own laundry.Barry Sanders
